Death's Alcove

PLay Game

In Death's Alcove, you play as a new Death who has been given the task of enacting Judgment on humanity and those who knock at Death's door. The Reaper is the one that resides above you in rank and will Judge you in return based on your collections of souls.

  • Narrative-Centric Maze Game
  • Individual Project
  • Dev time: 2 weeks
  • Adapted rapidly to foreign development tool (Bitsy).
  • Worked around engine limitations/capabilities and heavily limited asset sizes/color schemes to capture game feel as efficiently as possible.
  • Developed unique narrative which supports the game exploration and core maze mechanics. Narrative concept kept as a core part of development choices.
  • Created reactive gameplay system using limited tools in which dialogue outcomes change depending on player involvement.
  • Built upon narrative, theming, adaptive, iterative design, choice-based gameplay, and environmental depiction skills.
